(Warned ya that this might turn out different to what you expected...*g*)
"Shit!" Gibbs thought. He sat there, feeling uncomfortable in his tux and bowtie, not knowing anyone in a room full of thousands of famous people, and his biggest nightmare had just come true.
It was the last award of the evening, and the gorgeous looking actress up on stage had just opened the envelope. "And the Oscar goes to...Tony DiNozzo."
So his lover just won the Oscar for best actor in a leading role. Big fucking surprise. Gibbs sighed and eyed the crowd that cheered and clapped enthusiastically. Tony deserved it, no doubt about it. He was Hollywood's shooting star, having taken over Tinseltown by storm with his performance in his first feature film. He was already considered to be the new Bob deNiro.
The actress up on stage looked around, then stated, "Unfortunately, Tony DiNozzo is currently in Italy shooting his new movie. So, I'd like to accept this award on his behalf..." She trailed off when she saw Gibbs slowly making his way onstage.
"Hi," he said softly, clearly embarrassed to feel everyone's eyes on him. He didn't even want to think about the millions--if not billions!--of people watching on TV. "I'm here to accept Tony's award on his behalf." He unfolded a piece of paper and held it up like a shield.
The actress looked at it and saw that it was a handwritten acceptance speech, obviously written by Tony. She inclined her head, stepped aside and waved Gibbs toward the microphone.
Gibbs cleared his throat and stared at the note his lover had written for him. But, damn it, he was a functional mute! He didn't do speeches! And so he crumbled up the paper and thrust it into his pocket. Then he grabbed the golden statue and held it up. "Tony, I know you're watching in your hotel room. So, congratulations. You deserve this." He took a deep breath, trying to find the courage to go on.
His lover had decided to out themselves, stating that the Academy Awards would be the best possible venue. "On live television, Jethro. In front of billions of people! We'll be the talk of the town!" Gibbs didn't mind being outed; in fact, he had only been careful and secretive on Tony's behalf until now. He was, after all, just the guy who had custom-built a yacht for the new hot shot Hollywood star. The fact that they ended up falling in love was an added bonus. So, if Tony wanted to out themselves, Gibbs was game.
Clearing his throat again, he looked straight at the camera. "Tony, I love you and I miss you and I'll bring this little golden boy to you first thing tomorrow morning."
There was surprised murmur and shocked gasps at Gibbs' statement, but he didn't care. Let the media flip their collective shit over the announcement. All that mattered to Gibbs was that he would see his lover again in only a few hours. And he knew they'd celebrate in style.
