Yup. Sorry to disappoint you, but all spoilers are clearly pointing in that direction--without any of the usual "maybes". Hell, our resident anti-Tiva shipper MW confirmed that season X will be "the year of the Tiva" so there you have it. Sounds pretty much like a done deal to me now, and that's my cue to abandon ship. Wouldn't be the first TV show I stopped watching because of shipping crap or crappy characters or characters leaving or fucked up plot lines or...

It's just a shame really to see this happening now. I really believed Glasberg had more brain than that. Oh well. It was nice while it lasted. *shrugs*

I need to rewatch and there were the typical GG plotholes, but I think this eppie bears watching. I was spoilered to a fine lather and didn't really see much ado about anything. Even the elevator didn't suggest pairing [or much of anything except Ziva was ripe and it was her idea to take it] I'm still very suspicious about the spoilers and waiting for the other shoe to drop. *shrugs* Plenty of BAMF!Gibbs we haven't seen in forever and Fornell, tho. =}

YAY on WC!!! I saw that earlier and, while not surprised in the least, did a happy dance! =D

Considering this was supposed to be a great romantic moment for Tiva, I'm thinking same old same old, at least based upon what we've seen thus far.

I dunno if this was supposed to be a great romantic moment for Tiva. I retched enough seeing the previews for the simple fact that my Tony would not do such a thing. Screw Tiva. I'm furious that once again Tony's OOC due to Tiva. My Tony would've never gotten into that elevator. And my Tony wouldn't make stupid, sexist, inappropriate comments in such a dangerous situation ("the earth moved" or some such bullshit...really?!). My Tony would be worried sick about his friends and coworkers and chew Ziva out for being stupid and hauling him into the elevator. Hell, my Tony wouldn't be in that position because he'd NEVER ENTERED THAT ELEVATOR. I'm DONE with stupid!Tony and I was so happy that GG understood the character and gave me my Tony back. But now we're clearly on the road to dumbed down, stupid, no balls!Tony again, because that's the only way to get to Tiva. And I ain't cool with that.

Sorry, venting. And I haven't even seen the ep. (I downloaded it and might watch it since y'all gave it a tentative okay. Gonna watch The Voice first though. That's how important NCIS is to me these days.)

Also? I'm reacting almost violently every single time I see Ziva touch him in some way. Why? Because I flashback to every single event when Cote touched Michael without his permission and/or against his explicit wishes. Makes my skin crawl. That might be because I don't consider CdP to be a good actress, meaning, I see Ziva, I see her. (Unlike the other actors and their characters. I see Tony, not Michael. I see Gibbs, not Mark. Ya know?)

That was what was being established in the shistorm Tv Line stuff yesterday, from what I could tell.

The episode worked for me--pretty much every mix you could imagine was there. Lovely moments that could be read as McGibbs and Gibbs/Palmer, Palmer/Ducky, Abby/Ziva, Ducky/Gibbs, etc.

I know what you mean about the Ziva touching. A lot of folks seem to feel the same way.

...and that's why I stay far, faaar away from things like Twitter or Facebook and the like. I find out about the spoilers, wrinkle my nose at the Tiva anvils, secretly hope for good stuff regarding the rest, and otherwise hide in my corner.

I just had a look at the comments. Thats okay--people can expend the emotional energy on attacking...not for me!! I read the tweets, went back to my thang, and had a good night :)

My problems with NCIS:

1. don't care one bit about the Dearing story arc. At all. It was boring and contrived and made no sense. So, uh, no suspense to kill me over the summer.

2. I don't care at all what may or may not happen between Tony and Ziva. I'm too pissed off to care, tbh, because I'm done with seeing Tony being dumbed down (which is the only way to force Tiva anvils of varying degrees upon us). Never, ever gonna forgive GG the idiocy that is The Elevator Thing (IT WAS A FUCKING EVACUATION FOR CRISSAKES!!11!)

3. I'll receive hate mail for this, but...I'm not a Ducky fan. He could've died for all I cared. Never mind that we all knew he survived (great way to keep the suspense going, TPTB), this subplot just did nothing for me.

GG stated that he and the writers realized how much chemistry there is between Tony and Ziva after they saw the elevator scene and decided to explore it this season. He stated he owed it to the Tiva fans and he'd deliver. That alone makes me lose all respect for him. No TPTB owes any group of fans anything, FFS. The arrogance and entitlement of the Tivaristas make it even worse, of course. Which is why I love WC fandom so much--there's no wank or shipping wars, and the one character that's not generally liked in the fandom is one I can't stand either, so I'm in good company. *shifty*

I guess I'll hesitantly watch the new eps once my friends tell me it's kinda safe to do so. I mean, I was looking forward to seeing all the exciting guest stars etc. The whole confirmation that this season will focus on Tiva has spoiled it thoroughly for me though. (The famous straw that broke the camel's back? Beware of spoiler: There's apparently gonna be an ep where Tony finds an old home video of him as a kid with his mom, which sounds all kinds of awesome, and we'll learn more about his budding love for movies thanks to his mom etc...and what does he do? He shares it all with Ziva, and they'll have a deep, meaningful conversation about it and connect even more over it! What? I mean, WHAT?! OOC much?! *despairs*)

I'm thinking they owe MORE to MH and MW who have said many times they don't want a Tiva relationship...

They don't owe anything to anyone, which makes it even worse. (The "it" being catering to the crazy crowd, of course.)

As for MW, suddenly seeing him gushing about Tiva makes me side-eye him hard. This isn't toeing the company line, this is plain old selling out. I mean, we've seen him toeing the line, and it was always with a huge sarcastic subtext, making it clear what he really thought of Tiva. Now? I don't know who that is, but it ain't the MW who strongly opposed Tiva for years.

And nobody can tell me that he didn't know what was happening going into the new season. Sure, he wants a steady income, but if he really felt his character would be completely compromised, he could've just decided not to renew his contract. The actors do have influence, after all. But okay, if that's what he wants, I respect that. I'm just not gonna like it or endorse it by watching. *shrugs*

I know that I personally have no influence whatsoever in regard to ratings or whatever, not being in the US, but I'll feel better sabotaging any glaring Tiva eps. So you'd better give me a heads up if an ep is watchable or not this season. *g*

He did an interview the other day and made NO eye contact with the interviewer. WTF? Very odd. His sudden turnaround makes me wonder what happened and who said what to him. It is just so out of character from everything we've seen from him to date. I know actors who got screwed over after agreeing to contracts - ask me about "Night of the Lepus" some time...

Huh. That is weird for MW. I mean, he's such a people person, always charming and flirtatious. *ponders* I've avoided most interviews lately so I missed the one you mentioned.

My first fangirly crush was DeForest Kelley, who played Bones in Star Trek and nearly 1/2 a century older than me ;)

He mainly played villains before ST but found himself pretty much typecast as a good guy afterwards. For the most part, he retired after ST but he did sign on for a few movies, one of which was "Night of the Lepus" This was back when disaster movies were all the rage and he was sold a movie based on a well-written sci-fi satire about research bunnies mutating and going on a rampage [I'm not making this up!!!] with a very well respected director and a pretty notable cast for that time. This was with a major studio, MGM.

After signing the contract, the director walked away from the movie. It was totally rewritten into a trainwreck of a script, the SFX budget was cut and he was stuck. By the time they filmed it, 'cheesy' is a generous description. I probably still have it on VHS here somewhere and it is soooooo funny to watch! Half of the bunnies are just innocent wee wabbits with ketchup on their faces hopping around a miniature set in slow motion and the other half are guys in 6' bunny suits stumbling around like they can't see where they're going. MST3K mentioned it a bunch of times and supposedly tried to get it but MGM wouldn't give them the rights. De essentially retired after that and only came back for the ST movies. Google it. It's worth the LOLZ.

I HATE the spoilers and hate GG's comments even more.

I totally agree with everything you say but I suppose I'm still waiting for the final straw to drop while trying to enjoy some other facets of the show, knowing in the pit of my stomach it's likely to happen. That spoiler you mentioned really grated: ABBY develops the pictures and he goes to Ziva for the "moment"??? Where is my Tabby friendship? THAT would have been awesome beyond words! Instead, he's only complete with his "better half" completing him. *gags*

I am so, extremely tired of seeing people pontificate about fan reaction and interaction. Don't play both sides and then claim to be a saint. I much prefer honesty. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and I don't see where even discussing straight CANON, even if it's not convenient for certain factions, is being divisive.

Because of that pairing and their fans, much of the online community sucks - they and their socks make a point of joining forums to start fights. The insufferable entitlement is tiresome. The 'they do it, too' shit is childish, frequently untrue and then there's the whole subject of degree. [yes, I get there are freaks everywhere, I'm talking general majorities' behaviors] People who fire up the polarity are playing the victim, etc... I still have the right to state my opinion, so long as I try to keep it classy and impersonal. I only go to a very limited number of forums and avoid the rest like the plague. When I visit articles, I rarely if ever comment and it's never with a sock. Obviously, I tend to avoid TVLine and that ilk since they cherrypick and are total fanbois. For that, I am a "hater". :::sigh:::

It makes me so sad seeing so many of my friends leaving the fandom or having to cut their NCIS love off short so they can keep what love they have alive. I'm feeling a little left behind.

I'm admittedly very grumpy - the past couple of weeks have sucked hard monkey chunks and my show is leaving me because I don't matter in their equations. Petulant? Don't I have reason to be a wee bit put out? Let me wallow for a few minutes. For all that, I am trying SO FUCKING HARD to stay positive.

So, I'll keep watching for the time being and will let you know if it is worth the trouble. The Gibbs/Fornell scenes alone are worth it. You can always ff through the elevator, if you need - it's pretty much it for any interaction between them anyways.

I'm totally with you on all accounts, and please, feel free to vent anytime! :) These "fans" are a disgrace to the entire fandom. Talk about second hand embarrassment. *eyeroll* I just wish TPTB would once acknowledge the problem instead of cater to them, feeding their illusions of entitlement. That pisses me off even more than the actual concept of The Pairing That Shall Not Be Named, ya know?

And I'm not leaving fandom, I have too much fun playing with Gibbs and Tony. I just may have to stop watching the show if it really goes where GG threatened to go. *shrugs* But, since that won't be MY show anymore anyway, I don't consider it abandoning NCIS, I consider it not watching a new show I have no passion for. *shrugs* Though I did notice a decline in the last couple of years in fandom overall, which is a shame. Especially since I have a half-finished AU epic that I really need to complete and get ready to post before there's no one left who actually reads it! LOL!

I've been dvring it to watch with my DIL when it comes on in the West Coast and I said to her when the person that had the thing that he picked up at the end of last season, and then said that thing about trust, I said A-HA!!! (loudly and with exclamation points) And my DIL said Why so we discussed it - in great detail, repeatedly. So when I finally got to watch tonight. I KNEW IT!!
