I think
elrhiarhodan tags me whenever she's doing a meme just to annoy me. *g*
Or, in this case, maybe because she wants a sneak peek at unposted stuff from me. *narrows eyes suspiciously* Hee.
Either way, this meme has made the rounds on my flist, and it's pretty easy and straightforward:
Seven Sentences: Go to a WiP and give us 7 sentences starting from the 7th paragraph on the 7th page.I don't really have many WIPs. I work on a fic till it's finished, post it, and then tackle the next one.
Usually. *cough*
So, I offer thee an excerpt from my epic NCIS strict society AU, which has been on the backburner since...way too long,
The Dowry:
"The only thing that I don't like is the fact that this McGee kid's an indentured slave. I didn't see anything on that in the file," Gibbs said, taking a sip from his second cup of coffee. "A smart kid like him shouldn't be enslaved. Something's wrong, I can smell it." He shrugged, then yawned. His shower was calling, then his bed. "Tell you what, I'll give this DiNozzo a call later today, but Tobias is the one who's gonna negotiate the deal. And only after fine combing through this DiNozzo Enterprises. I don't wanna have any bad surprises sprung on me when it's too late. Everyone's got secrets, everyone's got skeletons in the closet. I want to know what DiNozzo's skeletons are."
"And what if we can't find anything?"
"Then you didn't dig deep enough. Or he hid them so well because they're too potentially harming. Either way, nobody's squeaky clean. Tell Tobias that he's gonna have to find me something, or the deal will be off."And, just for fun, here's the 7th paragraph on the 7th page of my (still unfinished) White Collar Big Bang,
Neal & George:
"You know, the paint strokes are wrong in the upper left corner," the clone suddenly piped up, pointing at the forgery. "Someone got either frustrated or careless, I don't know which, but it's a surefire way of getting caught." He picked up the paintbrush and, before Neal could interfere, quickly added a few finishing touches to the painting's upper left corner. When Neal took a closer look at the forgery, he had to admit that it now looked perfect.
"See?" Mozzie said, as if that would explain everything.
Neal just sighed and hung his head. "This is not enough to replace me, Moz," he said calmly.
