Because I clearly need more challenges in my life...

I've failed spectacularly this year up until now when it came to writing challenges - however, that was mostly due to being constantly sick, dealing with a dying laptop and having a horrific work environment. The latter has finally been taken care of, which will hopefully also mean the former will no longer happen (my body tends to force me to take a break when it gets too much for me mentally to deal with crap), and I finally have a shiny new laptop. \o/

So aaanyway.

I'm currently waiting to be tagged in the [livejournal.com profile] runthecon challenge, so this is an ongoing thing I'm active in (and a thing of beauty, I looove this comm!).

I've also still got my [livejournal.com profile] slashorific story to write (due July 13 *gulps*).

Then I signed up for my beloved [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen fic exchange. And you can too! Sign ups ends May 24! :)

Sign-ups May 10-24 - Click the banner for details!

There's a new mini-BB challenge that sounds incredibly interesting, namely [livejournal.com profile] spnhorrorbang. If only I could write horror! I love reading it but seem incapable of writing it - and that from the person who started her fanfic career in the X Files fandom (and is now active in the SPN fandom). I fail at life. LOL But maybe someone else from my flist is interested so here ya go:

Author sign ups end May 20, artist sign ups end August 25.

And then there's the [livejournal.com profile] whitecollar_bb - one of my most beloved BB challenges, and one I failed spectacularly last year, defaulting due to...reasons. Anyway, after a lot of hemming and hawing, I finally told myself to go ahead and sign up again. I still have the unfinished fic from last year that really deserves to be posted, plus that awesometastic fusion idea I've been mentally working on since last summer (all [livejournal.com profile] elrhiarhodan's fault, of course). So yeah. Let's hope I'll manage to not drop out this time around... *crosses fingers*

And this is the current state of my insanity. Considering I haven't written much of anything at all this year yet, this is one hell of a full plate! *boggles* Wish me luck.

A recent multi fandom project showed there are a lot of authors wishing for art to go with their stories and a lot of artists with a desire to create. Both were not sure how to approach each other. I hope to bring y'all together in this new Supernatural art-community: [livejournal.com profile] quicky_bang!
The main challenge is for authors to offer short stories to artists to illustrate, but there is also a corner for art-prompts and a meet up post for collaborations. Sign up, join in, spread the news!

1. I've had the week from HELL
2. I'm 800+ posts behind on my flist (sorry for not commenting, I probably haven't seen your post yet!)
3. My Muse has gone into hiding and I need inspiration
4. I want to try out something new (for me) and this looks like fun
5. Just because!

If you like SPN or SPNRPF, why not sign up too? :)

I know I have a lot of catching up to do but the weekend is already pretty full with RL obligations and running errands and such so...don't hold your breath that I'll be spamming y'all with comments. Le Sigh. Will try my best to catch up though!

In the meantime: Happy Spring Flinging! :)

Hey my SPN flisties -

The Always Keep Fighting campaign has been amazing, but hearing all those stories can really take a toll as mentioned in this tumblr post from VanCon.

"So we were waiting in line for Jared’s auto when someone went up to him and told him a story that had him hugging her for a long time and when she’d gone he got mega-teary eyed and had to actually leave the auto table to compose himself. At this point Jensen had just finished and walked over to where Jared was behind the semi-opaque curtain (right next to us) and after some murmurings gave him a huge hug and a reassuring ‘you can do it brother, there’s not that many people left out there’ HONESTLY I nearly died on the spot."

So Winchesterwoman over on twitter and I came up with this campaign.

Feel free to tweet, tumblr, repost, reblog - anything to get the word out. Let's show our boys some love.

It's back, new and improved, and just waiting for people to come and play!

[livejournal.com profile] runthecon is a flash writing challenge in which you get tagged with a prompt and then have 24 hours to write a fill. It's oodles of fun, causes despair and frantic scrambling to meet the deadline, and leaves you feeling panicky, exhausted and incredibly pleased with yourself because you managed to post your fic in time! *g*

Sign ups for the new challenge start August 1st - keep an eye out for the official announcement! Until then, please feel free to peruse [livejournal.com profile] runthecon, familiarize yourself with the rules and, if you're so inclined, pimp the living daylights out of the comm with this awesometastic banner!

Seriously guys! I know that my beloved NCIS fandom is slowly dying, but only having 5 (!!!) people sign up after a week? That's embarrassing.

I admit to slowly being sucked into SPN fandom (why, god, why???) and the amount of fic produced there is ridiculous (Big Bangs with literally hundreds of participants). But NCIS is a small fandom compared to SPN. So let's look at an equally small fandom: White Collar. How come we get tons more responses there? So it's clearly not the size of the fandom. It's the people in it actively participating!

Don't disappoint me, fellow NCIS fans! I'm counting on you!

Come one, come all, and sign up for this year's [livejournal.com profile] ncis_ficathon!

It's easy, it's fun, and you get some free fic written for you!

So run, don't walk, and sign up - the deadline is on March 15th!

Why haven't I seen this before? Probably because Real Life interfered.

Anyway. I've seen a bunch of my flisters proudly displaying their "I got nominated!" banner (congrats, guys!) so I went to have a look at the comm. I'm all for spreading fandom (and especially fanfic/fanart) love, after all! :)

I was a bit surprised to see names I've never heard of in fandom being nominated while others I was sure would get tons of nominations aren't listed (yet). I shall rectify that oversight! *g* And then I will check out the - for me - new members of our fandom. Always neat to get potential awesomeness recced, after all!

So, if you haven't already but want to, why not check out the comm, think if there's a story or two you absolutely love, and nominate your favorite(s) before it's too late? (Deadline: end of January!)

Announcing a new White Collar writing community - The White Collar Reverse Big Bang - [livejournal.com profile] wc_reverse_bb

What Is a Reverse Big Bang? In traditional Big Bangs, authors write fan fic, and about halfway through the challenge, artists get to claim a story and create a non-written fanwork for that story (cover art, fan mix, video, etc.) but in a Reverse Big Bang, artists create their fanworks first, post them, (or samples) and then writers will have about two months to write stories for those artworks. In Round One, we are sticking with visual media - drawings, digital paintings, manips, picspams.

You can read the Rules post for art, schedule, and writing requirements.

Signups for Round One will open on October 15, 2013 for Artists and for Authors.

You can find the signal boosting code and more banners here.

Shamelessly copy-pasted from the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] rabidchild (because I'm shameless and lazy and shameless):

Is it that time again?

Yes, fellow Collars, the Fourth Anniversary of the airing of the White Collar Pilot episode is on October 23. Time for another round of Caffrey-Burke Day!

In case you didn't catch it last year, I will start with what Caffrey-Burke Day ISN’T: It’s not a swap or challenge, there are no sign-ups, there are no rules. This is not Slash-only. It is not Gen-only.

What it IS is a celebration of the relationship we love so very much – the one that makes watching White Collar such a joy – however you choose to interpret it.

How can you participate? It’s simple:

On or around October 23, publish a White Collar fanwork that focuses on or otherwise features the relationship between Peter and Neal. Any fanwork. Any subject matter. Any pairing. Any genre. Then, when you cross-post or otherwise promote your work, merely include in the summary or author note that it is for “Caffrey-Burke Day”.

That’s it.

If you’ve got any questions, head to my comments, but I think it’s pretty straightforward:

1. Create Neal-Peter works, any medium, any length, any subject matter

2. Publish on or around October 23

3. Mention it’s for “Caffrey-Burke Day”

On October 24, [livejournal.com profile] rabidchild will post a recap of all the submissions on her LJ (and here's last year's list for science! or something).

If anyone cares to signal-boost for this, please do!

And many thanks to the lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] kanarek13 for the artwork!

I mean, come on. It's easy, it's fun, and you get some fic written for you!  So, what's not to like?!

Sign ups end on August 15, so run, don't walk! :)
