zackquinto

Thank you, Zachary Quinto.

If you feel helpless or aren't in the US to easily join protests or marches, donate to the ACLU. I did. Every damn dollar counts these days.

Or do what someone I know did (before the Muslim Ban, when everyone was "only" up in arms about the abortion stuff):

I was angry at Donald Trump and so I donated $35 to Planned Parenthood as a gift in his name. Then I put the White House address as the 'notification recipient address' so they will mail him a Thank You card. Everybody else who is angry today should donate as well (the minimum you can donate is $5 so if you're angry but also poor, you should be able to still help) : www.plannedparenthood.org/donate

This? Is awesome trolling that helps at the same time. Kudos to Sarah for doing this.

There aren't enough NOPEs in the world to convey my feelings right now.

'Murica, why did you do this to yourself?! (And the rest of the world, for that matter.)

There's a tweet out there that sums up the situation perfectly (they read it out loud on the radio so I have no actual link to the source, sorry):

9/11 - Never forget
11/9 - Always regret

Everyone on my flist seems to be snagging bingo cards from [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo these days! And I love h/c! Love reading it, love writing it.

But I already have so much on my plate. And I can't seem to find my muse or any plunnies so tackling the stuff I already signed up for is a huge problem. I don't want to add more pressure by signing up for [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo.

But I'm a lemming! Everyone does it, so I gotta do it too, right?

Ack.

Having "Carry On, My Wayward Son" by Kansas playing on endless loop in your brain.

Which, ya know, FFS EARWORM!!!

But, on the other hand, YAY GREAT SONG!!!

(...this is what happens when you start rewatching Supernatural from the very beginning in hopes of reigniting the love you once had for that show...)

(And for those of you who are curious: yes, for now it's working! *g*)

Even after sleeping on it, even after having over a day to get over it, I'm still beyond enraged.

You see this?

matt+mark emmy

In my headcanon, in my reality, this is what actually happened. This is Matt Bomer with the Emmy he oh-so-rightfully won. With Mark hiding his Emmy somewhere because he, too, of course, won. This is not the ONLY Emmy The Normal Heart won, with Matty and Mark showing it off and smiling into the cameras while inwardly not trying to hulk out over the fucking injustice of it all.

more ranting behind the cut )

I promise I'm done ranting now. I just needed to get this out of my system.

The Normal Heart won ONE Emmy.

Just. A. Single. One.

Are you fucking kidding me???

I am so incensed right now, I could scream. In fact, I did scream at my laptop when Matty lost. HE WAS ROBBED. Hell, everyone (except maybe Julia Roberts - I did favor Kathy Bates) was robbed.

And you could see Matty's disappointment when the "winner" was announced. I just wanted to reach through my screen and smish him.

FU, Emmy assholes. Eff. Yoo.

I don't know why they're so obsessed with Sherlock (of all things! *shudders*) but this year more than ever, they fucking missed the opportunity to reward and honor something very special. Something very important. I guess I should be thankful that they recognized The Normal Heart as Best TV Movie. Pardon me for not feeling very thankful right now. *fumes* (to be honest, I was convinced that this one would also go to Sherlock, because, hey, it's totally a TV Movie and not a Mini-Series, right??? *fumes some more*)

JFC.

Going to rage myself to sleep now... (Can't believe I stayed up to watch this trainwreck.)

Seriously.

You're completely changing the design without prior notice, which results in LJ being down - again, without prior warning.

Now that the deed is done, there still is no official announcement.

You want feedback on what I think about the new design and the way you treat your paying customers?

"Veteran drama White Collar has been renewed for a six-episode sixth season, though the NBCUniversal-owned network declined to confirm whether it will be the final season."

(found everywhere, e.g. here: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/usa-renews-white-collar-orders-690318)

Sooo...yay, S6 is a definite go! \o/

Sooo...definitely only six eps. /o\

But...maybe not the last season? \o?

(No, I don't doubt that it's the last season. Matty said as much. But why can't frakkin' USA just, ya know, say so?!)

So, I'm working my way through all the feedback that kind readers left on my MMOM fics...

...and I'm suddenly thinking, "Hey, waitaminit, I already responded to this!"

And then I'm thinking, "Why's there suddenly an obvious response from me posted as comment to my own entry?!

And then I'm thinking, "Why are there only four comments (two of them from yours truly!) when gmail tells me there should be ten pieces of feedback?!"

Fuck you, LJ. You've deleted/lost/otherwise got rid of comments to my entries! I have no clue how far back this goes, because I began responding to feedback for my fic posted on May 7 (!!!) and I don't want to double-check even older posts. Either way, you suck, LJ. SUCK!

So, apologies to anyone who receives any responses again. I just want to be courteous and thank everyone for leaving feedback, and if LJ makes it look as if I haven't yet...well, prepare to be spammed. *helpless shrug*

I'm just glad that I use gmail to archive all of my feedback so I can go back and reread the kind comments there...since apparently LJ is completely incapable of leaving my entries alone. *fumes*

So, I wake up, grab my tablet and go online to check my emails and flist while still lounging in bed (dontcha love the 21st century?!) when I realize that something is missing. Or, more precisely, my flist isn't spammed with dozens of new entries as it usually is. Then I scroll down and see my own last entries...and in my A/N, the comm name for [livejournal.com profile] mmom is striked through.

My first thought is that I was too stupid to get a four-letter name right, but then the lack of new entries suddenly makes sense.

I go to check out the comm in question, and lo and behold, it's suspended. SUSPENDED!!! Seriously, LJ?! For what?! Masturbation?! Last time I checked, adult content was still allowed here. Or did our Russian overlords change the rules?! Again?!

Just a quick heads up:

LJ hasn't sent me any notification emails in at least three days.

I have no way of knowing if you commented on one of my posts or replied to one of my comments.

Worse still, I'm not informed if there are any entries waiting to be approved in the comms I'm modding.

I track certain comms and personal journals (the ones that are important to me) because oftentimes I don't have time to peruse my entire flist. That way, I at least know there's a new entry that's worth my time, and I check it out directly. That, also, doesn't work now, obviously.

IT FRUSTRATES ME TO NO END.

I don't have time to spend hours on LJ due to RL issues, so I might miss new entries from you (the ones I'm stalking tracking), and I honestly don't have time to constantly double-check my own journal or any journal/comm I might have left a comment, just to see if someone responded. I'm sorry. Please rest assured I'm not ignoring you. I'm just...ignoring you. :(

Really?

Once again, I'm not receiving all notifications, be it about your comments or new entries or whatever.

So I'm back to being pissed off.

Also, I realized that some of my icons are missing. Or, at least, not loading. Because LJ informs me that I'm almost at my limit (279 out of 280 possible icons are "uploaded" though a good 20 or so are clearly missing). I don't know if they're gone for good or just not loading at the moment because Stupid Goat Frank (TM) is once again nibbling on the wires and cables or whatever.

Either way, me no likey.

Apologies in advance for potential lack of responding. I just might not know you posted something. *despairs*

So, it's not like I've waited the entire season for this episode or anything, right? Because hey, it's only Senior's return, after all, right?

And yet you decide I shouldn't get to see the damn ep.

1) Global doesn't air it on Monday, as is tradition this season. Okay, I can live with that. It means I won't be able to snag it off the internet Tuesday morning and indulge myself (and get half a dozen tags written before it airs on CBS), but hey, that's cool.

2) There's only one--in other words: ONE!--working live stream and its quality is TOTAL CRAP. So I'm sitting here, Tuesday night my time, watching a CBS feed that barely allows me to see what the hell is happening, not to mention understand what anyone is saying! I'd give up if it were any other ep, but it's Senior, and I'm amped, and so I'm trying my best to figure out what the funny looking pixels are doing and saying.

3) And then, dear tech gods, you decide that this isn't enough. Nooo, you decide to really screw with me. Because, in all your wisdom, you decide to completely cut me off my NCIS fix just as the last act starts. My internet connection completely craps out for good, with about eight minutes to go. Thank you ever so frakkin' much. Because no matter what I do to my modem, it stays dead.

4) And so here I am, less than four hours later, after almost no sleep but unable to go back to bed because the cats demand attention. At least the modem's working again, so I'm online, and I'm downloading about to watch the episode in all its technicolor glory, and I'll finally be able to watch the last scene which I know is beyond awesome because I already saw a bit of it in the promo trailer.

But I'm beyond tired and I'm cranky, and I repeat: WTF, tech gods? What? The? Effing? Fuck?!

Originally posted by [livejournal.com profile] tinlizzie82 at Just in case Mississippi seems too far away
I imagine many of you have seen the reposted entry in protest of the Mississippi Personhood Amendment that would grant any fertilized egg the same legal status as an actual live person, thereby outlawing abortion, some forms of birth control and criminalizing miscarriages.

But there is also a threat on a national level. Today the House passed HR 358, which they are calling the Protect Life Act (or for those who oppose it the "Kill Women Bill") , a bill that would allow hospitals receiving federal aid to turn away women who need an abortion even if it is necessary to protect the health of the mother. While this bill is not in danger of becoming law, Obama has said he will veto it and it lacks the votes to overturn that veto, it is indicative of the fragile position of the pro choice contingent in this country and another volley in the right wing onslaught against reproductive rights. One of the most frightening things is that the bill's proponents are trying to frame it as an attack on Obamacare, an more widely unpopular measure, rather than a direct attack on abortion and the general public is not discerning enough to understand this.

This article gives a good overview of the bill, Obama's Statement of Administrative Policy against it, and how it relates to laws aready in place and previous failed attacks on abortion.

The fact that this bill will most likely never make it all the way into policy is no reason to ignore it. Complacency is dangerous and we can best raise our voices by contacting our local representatives and making our views known. You can also contact the Democratic National Committee HERE or the Republican National Committee HERE (click on the contact congress button, the actual page was down, supposedly for service).

Historically, the pro life lobby has not had a majority when it comes to public opinion but it has always been very vocal. In this time of concerted attacks on our reproductive rights, we need to change that and make our views heard loud and clear before it is too late. So contact your local representative, post about this on your LJ or just hit the button below.
